And we lived beneath the waves in our yellow submarine

I've been customising shoes for, ooh, a good couple of years now. It's just something super fun to both make and wear. And although I've been creating them for other people for so long, I've only ever made myself one pair which were only a prototype anyway, so that doesn't even really count. I've never felt any particular way about this as I'm generally not one for wearing trainers, but the last couple of months I seemed to be pulling on my Converse more than usual, and it got me thinking about how it was probably about time I did myself a pair.

These are all done with Copic markers and a little bit of white gel pen. I'm very pleased with how they've turned out considering I mostly winged it. I'm pretty excited to wear these out and about, but as luck would have it it's mostly rained everyday since I finished them. Gutted. They'll stand up to a little wet weather but I don't want to take a chance so I'll probably end up hoarding these away until the sun comes back in spring. I think they'll look super cute teamed with a sundress and ankle socks.

(And as I was typing this entry Yellow Submarine came on my iPod of it's own accord, which pleased me far too much!)

what I wore: red and yellow

dress - 1960s vintage
shoes - Schuh (a very long time ago)
tights - mytights.com

Unfortunately the weather hasn't been very cooperative lately for outdoor outfit posts, it's either been too wet and overcast, or simply too cold for me to even contemplate taking my coat off. That's not to say it's the end of outdoor photo shoots for the coming months, but do expect to become familiar with my workstation.

I'm crazy about this dress, it was a lucky find on eBay that I literally came across about 10 minutes before the auction was due to end. Not only does it fit as though it were made for my body, it's also my favourite colours of red and mustard yellow. I purchased the tights recently with this dress in mind and I really like how they bring out the yellows of the pattern. I'm still undecided as to whether red shoes would be too much or set the outfit off perfectly? I can get a little carried away with colour coordination sometimes, it can be hard to know when to stop!

It’s good to have you with us, even if it’s just for the day

I'm not new to the world of blogging, I've run different blogs for over 10 years (starting way back on Xanga when I was at high school, now there's a trip down memory lane!). My "main" blog is my LiveJournal, the one I've run for years and still stubbornly cling to even though most of the cool kids have long since left it behind. I consider that my personal blog where I reveal my inner most self, wearing my heart on my sleeve and my thoughts on my tongue. However I've also loved having a seperate blog, a corner of the internet that's very much me but perhaps less personal, posting about the more frivolous aspects of my life and adventures and the things that make me happy. My previous blog was beginning to feel stale and I had simply outgrown it and was itching for a fresh start. Shifting over to a new blog is always a little scary when you already have a little home on the internet set up, but I decided to be brave and bite the bullet! And I'm so glad I did, I already feel much more at home here and am giddy with the ideas I have for where I would like to take this blog and how it will grow.

If you've followed me over from my old blog, great! ♥ And if you're new, welcome to my journey. I hope you have as much fun reading about it as I have sharing it.
